Working brand brief

A brand built in three parts: science, clarity, humanity.

This is a working reference for the Plana Diagnostics identity: the ideas we're building on and the decisions still open. It's meant to be read in a few minutes and discussed. Some pieces are settled; others are marked as drafts or open questions for us to discuss.

01

The name

"Plana" isn't a coined word. It sits at the root of a small family of English words about making things flat, level, and clear. The name carries the promise before we say a thing.

plānus · plāna
flat · level · even · clear · plain
Latin
plainclear, evident, unadorned
planea flat, level surface
plana scheme laid out flat
explainto make plain, to lay out
planarlying in one even plane

To explain comes from explānāre, literally 'to make level, to smooth out,' and so, to make clear. To explain is to make plain. That is the whole business: a complex sample, laid out flat and legible as an answer someone can act on.

A loose etymology, not a strict linguistic claim, but the resonance is real, and it ties the name straight to the middle pillar: clarity.

02

The three pillars

Not three slogans: three moments in the life of a single test. Each has a role, and each carries one of the brand's colors.

Input · the assay

Science

"We start with thoroughness."

Validated assays, verified results, no shortcuts. The answer has to be right before it can be anything else.

Science blue · #0F7CA8
Transformation · the insight

Clarity

"We turn results into insight."

A number on a page isn't an answer. We make every result legible, interpretable, and ready to act on. This is where the insight suite lives.

Clarity · #E9B23C
Output · the individual

Humanity

"We never forget the person."

Behind every sample is someone waiting. Speed, plain language, and care aren't extras. They're the point.

Humanity green · #0F6451

One idea, three moments

The pillars aren't separate values sitting side by side. They're the path every test takes, start to finish.

Input
Science
The sample and the assay: the thoroughness that makes a result true.
Transform
Clarity
The result becomes an insight someone can read and act on.
Output
Humanity
A person acts with confidence: the reason any of it matters.

Science makes it true. Clarity makes it understood. Humanity makes it matter.

04

The insight suite

Clarity, packaged. The product line is the middle pillar turned into things people can order. The shared "insight" name signals the same promise across every test.

The colored dots shown are placeholder values only. We can determine if we want different colors, same colors for same test lines, or something else altogether.
